The First Step.

Making the first step is always crucial. We've been extra careful when dealing with audition clips/ tapes session. As this will be their first impression to get into competitions or their favored university. And we are delighted to have feedbacks from clients that they got through the competition or got offered a place to further their studies.

Mainly we were commissioned for piano and vocal recordings. But we did have cello, violin and trombone recordings as well. Regardless of musical instruments, we went full out as if its an album production. Our approach is to capture the most natural, undoctored performance and also making sure that the video looks good too. (very important and yes, we do offer video recording as well).

So, drop us a mail to enquire when you're ready to make the first step :)

Amanda Bloom @StarMount Studio

Talented Amanda Bloom brought her musical journey to StarMount Studio and we were amazed and mused by her music. It was such an impromptu session as new inputs and variations kept coming and the energy was great.

We had a good 5 days in the studio. We had great sessionist like Lewis Pragasam with his fantastic percussion kit, John Thomas and K7 with his array of Indian flutes. We starting to use the ribbon tubes a lot more often as we felt that its the closest to the natural sound of the acoustic instruments, especially the transients are so smoothly preserved. If we don't need the extras over 16kHz, RT1 of sE will be there.

We love our job.

Piano Tuning and Recording with Maestro Tay Cher siang

We cater to all of our clients need even you're on a tight schedule. Recently we had a session that requires the piano to be tuned at 441 Hz. We got Mr Chew over for the job, and get it done right before Cher Siang enters the room. A pair of sE 4400a was space paired, 1 ft above the sound board. Fed it through the Neve Portico Pres and Compressors, the recorded piano was full of warmth, without losing the transients.

"A Whore's Dream" Soundtrack Recording

We had Faraz Khordad coming in for solo piano act. Original composition for a short film titled "A Whore 's Dream". sE 4400a pair, omni, to the Neve Portico 5012 and 5043. Result is a dark yet musical sounding grand piano. It even changed the tone of the usually bright Yamaha. Great stuffs.

Season of Audition

Its audition season in StarMount Studio. We have many promising young talents coming in to do their piano solo audition tapes, either for further education or competitions. What we can say is they are truely amazing.
We love the sE4400a pair going through the ever musical Neve Portico 5012 (silk) and Lavry Blue conversion. No compression and effects were applied to preserve the authenticity of the recorded materials.

We've been getting thank you messages about the successful  intakes or they've gone past the audition with the recorded materials :)

Best Time to Record Piano

Our beloved Yamaha DC-1 has been given a spa treatment and its fresh as ever! Apart from normal tuning, we had the keys aligned, and rejuvenate the hammer felt ( so we have more headroom for dynamics). We tested it and its singing happily. Great thanks to Mr Chew for his patience and passion in taking care of our precious grand piano.

Contact us for any enquiries.
