And we have been honored to be work with so many wonderful and talented music souls in the studio. All the hard work was translated well with our carefully selected gears and equipment throughout the years and they have been very well respected and had a very special place in the studio and also in our hearts.

There is one particular brand that has really helped us grow throughout the years and we couldn't thank them for making such good and robust equipment, innovative nonetheless and always hit the right spot where music making( or audio) concerns. All the way from Hampshire, England- the guys that makes Audient. (although we didn't really have any contacts, but the support from our local dealer-Soundbuz was superb )

Audient ASP 008
It all started with a purchase of a 8 channel pristine, clean mic pre-ASP008 with AES/EBU option. Paired with our then Digidesign 003, it opened our horizon to take on larger track counts in live recording ( which is still what we do best). The mic pres are amazing on almost everything we put them through, and they were one of the few that has impedance matching that means a lot to us in getting the best signal into our recordings. Operation wise is easy and rock solid. Never had any issue with the clock, either with ADAT or AES/EBU. Just a flick of a switch and press of a button, it'll lock onto any sources given or taken from other units.
This unit was never replaced throughout times of studio upgrades and they always hold a place in our rack.

Audient Centro
With the confidence we had with the ASP 008, we then took a step up into getting the Audient Centro, a really good monitor controller that has all the things we look for, clean signal, unhyped sound, multiple analog and digital sources (DA is surprisingly good). It has mute, remote controlled talk back. This made the studio more complete in our monitoring end. (bye bye extra aux for talk back)

This too serves us well, giving us more opportunities in learning especially when AB-ing speakers, converters, comparing mixes/ sound sources.. we had learnt and grown a lot since the arrival of the Centro. Better recordings, translated to better mixes hence more jobs and better value gigs were all coming in and finally one day, our dear friend Ganz from Soundbuz drop us news about the Audient Black Series.

<span style="background-color: transparent; color: black; display: inline; float: none; font-family: "times new roman"; font-size: 16px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: 700; letter-spacing: normal; text-align: left; text-decoration: none; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; word-spacing: 0px;">Audient Black
The mic pres (love their led meter), offering a vast palate of sound shaping, thanks to their amazing HMX that you can have it clean without or crank it all up to have a rich and colorful tone, and it supercharged everything that has been put through it. Then we paired it with the Black EQ that has all the bells and whistles of high pass and low pass filters, their own "air" control which we love it so much when you need the sound to shine in the big lots of sounds in the mix, and the possibility is endless!
Comes our favorite fet dynamic leveler, which has fast response on attack and release," smooth "and "overcomp" feature which we find when engaged all it can give us the "thrust" character that is so much loved in tracking guitars, drums and forward vocals. To top it all, the illuminated VU meters are accurate and we can just stare on the moving needles the whole day.
To complete the box, we had the black ADC with master clock, which are instrumental in giving us additional 4 more AD into our working environment.
The Black Series Casing is robust and comes with a 2 U Power Supply. As we know for similar 500 series lunch boxes, the power supply is the most important to all and Audient has got it covered!

Audient Zen
We were all excited with the Audient line of products and once the Zen Mixing Console was out, we were the first one in Malaysia to get them into our studio! Nonetheless, it looks good and fits right into our audio habitat, improving our workflow instantly. Finally we were able to do real analog mixing and summing on the board, with all the input and output options available, beautiful calibrated led meters on all channels including group busses too. The stereo buss compressor we called "magic button" made wonders to our mix buss. All the glue and width that we once longed for was right at our fingertips. Paired with HUI controllers from PTHD, 16 moving faders with full recall of automation can be done in real time for track preps and mix downs. The sheer joy of touching the responsive and well made faders brings wide grin on the face every single day.

As much as we love all the gears, it has come to the time that we have to let go these precious working tools.

Audient ASP 008 RM 3000 (approx. 750USD)
Audient Centro RM 2500 (approx. 600USD)
Audient Black Series RM 8000 ( approx. 1930 USD)
Audient Zen 16 channels mixing console RM 30000 ( approx. 7220 USD)

We felt that this configuration will definitely help others, especially startup studio to have a total peace of mind to have a complete setup, hopefully learn and grow much faster in the field.
Feel free to drop us an email at info@starmountstudio.com. All are still in pristine working conditions and you can hear them in action and them home.
Dennis Tan of Roland Asia Pacific (RAP) offered us a trial to listen out to new speakers and without much hesitation and with great pleasure we got a pair of Heinz Electro Dynamic Design HEDD Type 07 active monitor speakers in the studio.
To be honest, this pair is not a show stopper. It appeared to be under powered when it was fired up alongside with ATC SC25, Solitaire 6a (which sounded very close to ATC SC25 at a fraction of the price) or even Axis Voicebox S passive ribbon speakers. We are used to a more open sounding, class A amps rather than enclosed bass reflex active speakers. Thus the underpowered impression was made when they were lined up together.

We always believe in 2nd chance, so we took great length into sweeping frequencies, adjusting speaker angle, and finding the best distance from the wall and to the sweet spot etc.

Here are some things we figured. The speakers sounded best in the studio when its about 1ft away from the wall, spaced in between is around 5m and about 3m to listening spot. The speakers are very directional, and we manage to widened the listening sweet spot with this arrangement. And listening to 78dB is quite comfortable as well. The mids and highs are very well presented without much hype or in your face especially on those sensitive 7k, 10k region. Its not muffled but much more comfortable to use and encourages explorations on the high frequency regions in tone sculpting.

As mentioned before, this pair is not a show stopper that it won't have immediate impact on listening experience, but its textbook like sound reproduction is surprisingly easy to work with. And most of all, we did a quick mix with the pair and it translated very well across mediums, especially phones where most of the elements are still intact, with almost exact mids and the low mid thuds. Its also sensitive towards compression and it can really gives a good gauge and direction to how much treatment needed to be done on the mix.

We struggle on listening on the bass notes on the low end as compared to the other monitors. Clarity is not so much 400hz and below. Its more lumpy, but once we could carve out the clarity for our bass lines, its very much visible and heard throughout platforms. But really wished the low extensions are made deeper and clearer, maybe that's the limitation or characteristic of bass reflex design.

Overall, we were quite happy with this as its time saving in making decisions once it sat in the right place. And now it has become our new addition to the studio ( one of the contributing part is, our main speakers needed to be sent for maintenance and we need this HEDD to work asap). As risky as it seems, but actually it was a good decision as we have delivered one off mix to clients more than we have done before. Perhaps these are much better on the bigger HEDD Type 20 (which we are really looking forward to it)

Its not exactly a easy listening pair of monitor speakers, but as for work, it translates well and that is what matters in our day to day turnover. As we are mainly summing through outboards, that have saved us tremendous amount of work in recalling. So, yes the HEDD tag is on one of our Avocets output buttons and will be for a long time.
<span style="font-family: "times roman" , "serif"; font-size: 14.0pt;">The connector heads are also well constructed and

after. The windchimes give a shiny, yet clear sound in the recording, which
shows that the treble performance for this cable is excellent. The piano track
sounded even across the spectrum, especially in the middle notes. <span lang="ES-TRAD" style="font-family: "times roman" , serif; font-size: 14pt;">

<span style="font-family: "times roman" , serif; font-size: 14pt;">The Lavas also had a tight sound on the
kick like the Vovox. the windchimes were even across the spectrum but exhibited
a darker tone, emulating a slight high shelf on the track. This may be due to
the coiling of the retro cable, which might give it a minute inductance. This
sound is reflective of some British amp tones, which is highly desirable in the
right circumstance. The piano also sounded even in the recording, with a small
difference in the brightness (and as mentioned due to the simulated inductance
of the retro coil).<span lang="ES-TRAD" style="font-family: "times roman" , serif; font-size: 14pt;">

<span style="font-family: "times roman" , serif; font-size: 14pt;">Klotz Titanium had the slightly more
pronounced low end on the kick, with some punchiness. It is hard to tell
whether the cable has a more extended frequency response, or that there is a
peak on the low spectrum. The windchimes also exhibited a clear yet darker
tone, like the lavas. Once again, the piano also had an even sound to it,
making it an excellent recording cable.<span lang="ES-TRAD" style="color: #357ca2; font-family: "times roman" , "serif"; font-size: 14.0pt;">

<span style="font-family: "times roman" , "serif"; font-size: 14.0pt;">The next test was to directly record an electric
guitar, as these cables were designed to do. However, an increase of the noise
floor was noticed on the monitors. This is due to the guitar being tracked from
a standard line impedance input (10kohms). A recommended suggestion to solve
this problem will be to use a higher impedance input (especially for guitars
with passive pickups) which is nominally rated at 1 Megaohms. This is due to
the guitar being a high impedance source, which creates losses during
amplification.

no noticeable difference on the guitar. It was well defined with a smooth
midrange across all cables. As mentioned again the only limiting factor was the
input impedance of the preamp, increasing the noise floor due to higher gain
required. Vovox seemed to have a faster transient response, which translates to better control of articulations while playing.

We would get recording sessions at 3am in the morning, or go around the clock from midnight until the next sunrise for bands/ musicians that were so inspired to capture the spark of magic after a great gig (sometimes redemption after a bad gig works too)

Long story short, we are pleased to offer recording past midnight at a promotion rate (much lower than our norm rates)

Although its on a lower price tier, but you still get 96khz 32bit recordings, handled by our certified audio engineer!

Contact us now at info@starmountstudio.com

*we do not entertain last minute bookings, please schedule your bookings at least one day prior to your session.StarMount Studiohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18390819909260958656noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3175334440762233933.post-9876029219031427882018-03-21T15:12:00.000+08:002018-03-21T15:12:32.290+08:00StarMount Studio is Turning 10We're celebrating our milestone with giving out BeyerDynamic DT770M headphones for every 10 hours of studio time. To make it a sweeter deal, you can choose between DT770M 80 ohm or 250 ohm, or even DT770 Pro 80ohm/250 ohm.

It has been such a wonderful journey, making friends along the way and most importantly growing and sharing experiences together with the music community are just priceless!

We have been recording for a long time and we felt that a good pair of headphones really translates well into a better performance during recording. Its always good to have a reference headphones wherever you go, either for hygiene purposes, comfort and most of all you'll identify your own sound/ voice character interacting with different microphones or signal chain in various studio/ live situations.

You'll have your materials recorded at 96khz 32 bit as standard. Of course we can accommodate lower or higher sampling rates from 44.1khz up to 384khz DXD format. We have done a few DSD 256 recordings as well if you're into DSD, we'll be more than happy to be at your service!

Its no joke that we literally invested our life into music, always strive for better sound, improvements in workflow and delivery, giving clients the best and most comfortable recording/ music making experiences, getting new gears, learning new tricks (by the way our chief engineer Alex Tan has just completed a mixing seminar with Chris Lord-Alge and is all excited to share his learnings and experience with you!)
Its precious that everyone is dedicated to make time, and get together to make music. These guys have hectic schedules and we manage to get them into one space for their debut single "Dancing Shoes"

Time was limited and we had only half a day to track the whole band. Got the rhythm section up through our trusted Audient Zen and bass direct into our go to Tree Audio Branch with little compression.

Guitars through the Vox AC30CCX, picked up with sE4400. Vocals were tracked with our latest addition of the Calrec Soundfield MKV. The voice captured was spacious and it sits very well in the mix even without any processing. Truly one of the best addition to the studio.

The band was looking at a retro-ish vibe thus we sculpted the sound to be back at the 90's, especially with the synths and keyboard patches.

JZ11 was called upon for capturing the saxophone solo at the last chorus of the song, Its our go to microphone for horns as it can handle high SPL and the top end was really smooth yet having good presence in the mix.

We've got Izzy as our guest barista at the "Happy Place"

Tracks were then mixed and summed through another newly acquired Fat Bustard Valve Summing Mixer from Thermionic Culture. The way it able to add textures to the mix was amazing and finally routed through another our favourite stereo buss compressor of the Audient Zen for that glue to the mix. (aka magic button)

Its been a great experience to be able to contribute to the band's first studio recorded single. We wish Ryot Jones all the best with "Dancing Shoes" and many more songs and success in the near future!

We've got in some really nice ADDA converters as well.

CraneSong Avocet is the centre of monitor controlling, providing the links to Horus DA, Lavry Blue DA, Genex gx8500 and RME ADI 8 QS.

We are a strong believer on ADDA conversion quality affects heavily on the outcome and the sound of a production (make or break).

Now we have the opportunity to house these few world class gems and hear them out in a press of a button.

We're pleased to have a pair of HEDD speakers to try out (courtesy of Dennis Tan of Roland Asia Pacific). And also be listen to Axis Voicebox passive speakers.

StarMount Studiohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18390819909260958656noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3175334440762233933.post-90154299666351441812018-02-06T15:31:00.003+08:002018-03-21T15:32:06.623+08:00NewSound "BEARING WITNESS" @ StarMount Studio
John Dip Silas brought NewSound over to track originals from his new band "NewSound". Talented band mates like Hor Chee Seng on the guitars, Icco Noel and Terence Ling on bass and drums, Hiroyuki Yagi and Scott Murphy on the horns, and of course John Dip Silas on the piano and keys.

The sessions were all recorded live/simultaneously. Its challenging and exciting the same time especially when we're trying to achieve full sound recordings with minimum spills into each microphones.

Both saxophones, tenor (Scott) and alto, sometimes soprano (Yagi) were placed in the control room, and the rest of the band in the main tracking room where the grand piano and drums were at.

Bass was tracked directly into Avalon U5, Guitars went into Radial JDI, tracking the direct signal and tie line into the amps (Mostly Fender Hot Rod) in the booth, So we've got both DI(direct for re-amping) and amp sound captured in the room.

Again we're glad to have our Canopus drum kit with its diverse tuning range to accommodate to different styles and genre. Apart from the tone, I personally like how the drum kit breathes within the confined space where its loud but not overpowering others in the same room.

Glowing valves for the horns

Kick was covered with sennheiser e902 for the solid low mids, complemented with Audio Technica AE2500 utilising the condenser capsule for the attack and extra air. Snare was done with the workhorse SM57 top and SM 58 on the bottom, AKG C451B on the hats, Sennheiser MD421 taking care of the toms and sE 3a stereo pairs looking over the drum kits.

The grand piano was comfortably wrapped up with heavy duvets and had a pair of our new found favourite JZ V11 spaced pair, approx 5 inches on top the sound board.

Horns were done with sE4400, sE 3a with reflexion and the supercardiod and pads saves the day. We had the horns side by side for tracking and the leak/ spill was unbelievable low. sE Gemini was used to capture the room sound of soprano sax and another side was covered by sE3300.

Wonderful IRF on Tenor Saxophone.

As for the guitars, Chee Seng's Fender Strat was plugged into JDI RADIAL, thru to Fender HotRod Deville. Icco's bass was directly into Avalon DI mic out to Tree Audio Branch for extra harmonics. We had to track 2 guitarists for one song and we had only one booth to store the amps.
Both the guitar amps, Fender HotRod and Vox AC30CCX were placed 2 inches against the wall in 90 degree. Both were captured with MD421, and we were amazed by how much rejection/ separation we got having both amps playing simultaneously in such tight spot.

All mic/lines were connected directly into the mic pres of Horus interface (except for piano, that went through Chandler TGII- Portico 5043) and the tracks were managed in Pyramix DAW at 96khz 24 bit.

The physical CD is available to be purchased from the band, and do follow the band's Facebook Page for updates on digital downloads and upcoming performances.
Well, it looks pretty good and undeniably fun!

The new space is to encourage bands to have more live performance recordings in both audio and more importantly video. Getting own content out could be costly at times, so we have come out with this idea of a produced live performance. Bands, artistes, singer songwriters, even stand up comedies can have their performance and get recorded professionally by our certified StarMount Dynamic engineers.

Back to Bell's story, we hanged out at our little cafe corner after session, she saw the space and felt like having a go with it and there you go, a new music video is born! Its that easy.

We've got to try out BeyerDynamic microphones, courtesy of Barnabas Goh from Tecxel Global. M69 was on the guitar (highly recommended) TG D70 on the kick drum (highly malleable with eq and comp), TG D50 on snare top (interesting texture, try it). Then its sE4400 on single overheads, Vocals captured with Beta 57a and Bass went in direct into JDI 48.
All the signals were handled with our trusted Audient Zen console, into our RME and Lavry converters and process and mixed real time in Pro Tools HD.

Video is captured with Samsung S7 edge, handheld, single continuous cam. Tracking was done by Alex Tan and Mixed by Daniel Yap.

Starting with the strings, we mic up the quartet players in a line formation from frist violin to cello. sE 3as were used for first and second violin, about 2 ft above the player's head, Akg C451B on viola and JZ V11 on cello. With a pair of sE RT1 in Blumlein for the overall ambient microphone, lush strings sounds were captured.

On the piano, we had our go to sE4400a pair on the piano. To get a wider and warmer tone, omni pattern will do the job. A little adjustments on the distance from the sound board to the microphone, we manage to get the right color for the job.

Mrs K is screening now in all major cinemas in Malaysia now.
WVC Trio provided the musical backbone, and we had Fresco, an international award winning harmonica ensemble to be featured in the song. Double MS technique was used to capture the harmonica, having them surrounding the microphone sets, the recorded result were rich and real.

Yudi has put immense effort in introducing the NanYang tunes of the yesterdays, bridging and crossing over languages that many would never thought they were actually the same song, and some of its origins were from the old Malaya.

Although its a reissue of songs from previous album, the songs had undergone a complete remixing approachfrom the previous album, notably the vocals and double bass. The vocals has been tweaked to a more current sounding as compared to the previous album. The microphone used was sE RT1, a valved ribbon microphone with 16k cut off slope. So it took some effort to bring back the presence (air) on the recorded vocals.

There's also a show "Modern Grand Hotel-A Story Telling Live Concert" happening this Sept 8.9.15,16 and 17 that will feature some songs from the album. Happening at the iconic Federal Hotel in Kuala Lumpur. Go check them out!

The toms are so musical, responsive and lush. Its a breeze to tune up the kit, and the tuning range is very versatile for various types of genre.

It was put straight into music production across genres of Pop, Jazz and Rock music. Feedback from our fellow session drummers were very positive, and all were complimenting about the musical tones, the ability to control the resonance and decay of the toms, and the kit just encourage and inspires them to hit the drums more.

It certainly doesn't sound like entry level drum kit at all. The signature Canopus tone is there, just without the die cast hops and the stock skins needed to be replace for better tone projection.

To date, the studio has "The Maple" 5.5"x 14" snare, "Yaiba Aluminium" 6.5"x14" snare (interesting sound) and the groove kit of 10"x8", 12"x8" 16"x16" toms and 22"x18" kick (Birch).

We will be more than happy to welcome all to come and experience the joy of hitting on the kit.
And to make it better, there's a 25% discount on the studio rental when you are coming in to record drums with the kit.

The ones we've got are piano black in gloss finishing. These are passive speakers and they housed interesting vertical ribbon tweeters paired with 5 inch driver.

Musical was the first impression when we played through our reference tracks. Having read reviews about the VoiceBox, we want to add in that the stereo imaging was very accurate. This is essential in track balance, horizontally and vertically. Its very good especially in the 800hz-3khz region. We had some fun trying to balance vocal tracks with the pair, and to our surprise the reproduction was consistent across platforms. Now we know one thing for sure, its really good in positioning, especially on the mid range frequencies.

The highs were smooth and alive, we love to hear kick drums through the pair. Tight and punchy. Again, this is a very musical pair of speakers. Although it was made for the Hi Fi market, but John has done a good job in tweaking the VoiceBox to be useful for critical listening too. This pair has found its place in the studio, the more its being played, the better it gets.
Through Universal Music Malaysia & Singapore, Peace and Shane came together for a duet " You, Its You".

Alex Tan, the producer for this project got Dennis Law of A9 Strings for music arrangement, "Sotong" on drums, AJ Popshuvit on Bass, Dennis on the keys and Alex"the lion" Koh on guitars.

Its also the debut recording for our new addition, Canopus Yaiba Groove Kit. We spent a nice 6 hours on recording the drums. There are 4 different snare tunings throughout the song, 2 different OH microphones on the first half and 2nd half of the song, and also we used 3 different snares for tone as well. The tones from the Canopus drums were so musical, easy to tune and sounds great recorded. The signals were all patched into Audient Zen Console mic pres and into Horus audio interface.

The bass went direct into Tree Audio Branch. Loved the tone especially cranking it through the opto compressors, the sound was almost complete into the mix.

Guitars were layered with multiple electric guitars and pickups. It provides a subtle but important support throughout the song. Hybrid processing of GTR and real pedalboard effects, combining DI and amped signals, especially for distortion powerchords towards the last chorus of the song.

JZ 11 was surprisingly fitting for the vocals in this song. We alternate JZ 11 into Chandler and Portico compressor for the chorus and JZ 11 into The Branch during the verse parts. Shane was using mainly Gemini MK2 while Peace was having a good mixture of both JZ and Gemini microphones.

We had much fun recording the album, as it involved many talented musicians starting from WVC Trio doing up the music, always a pleasure to work with the band. Followed by Cecilia Yap, a fantastic soprano singer to be featured in "茉莉花", not to forget Tan Jie on the chinese flute in "The Villager" This was interesting as the instrument was recorded entirely close mic in our tight vocal booth, yet sounding lively and the nuance were well preserved. Guessed it was down to the performer's ability and also the mic pres and converters from Horus interface. No compression or EQ was done on the flute at all.
Vocals were guided by Song Fan, and tracked entirely with sE Gemini Mk2 into Tree Audio Branch. The band was done live, with 4 mics on drums ( overheads, kick snare), stereo sE 4400a in omni, RT1 ribbon tube on double bass and JZ V67 on the saxophone. All were routed into the mic pre of Audient Zen console.

Its a product of over hundreds of hours clocked in the studio, and the mastering was done at Westside Mastering by the Grammy Award Mastering Engineer- Woody Pornpitaksuk.

Songs are available in iTunes and Spotify.
We had 22 Malaysian artistes lending voice and their kindness towards the awareness of abandoned pets, especially the strays on the streets.

Its such a great experience where the the studio was charged up with positive vibes, seeing artistes from various labels getting together for a good cause. The crews were working tirelessly taking footages as we were recording. It was exciting and challenging at the same time, as we had back to back schedules to fit and we had to get the best tone in such a short time frame.
2 mics, sE Gemini Mk2 and JZ v11 were put to the tasks. We had an all tube setup and a transformer charged channel to handle different tones and projections from the artistes.

The sE Gemini was paired with Tree Audio Branch, and JZ v11 went through Chandler TG2 with Neve Portico 5043 Comp. This was an interesting pairing where the sE GeminiMK2 gave a crisps presence, only set back was the limitation of SPL handling. On the other hand, JZv11 through the transformer chain gave a warm, big sound which fits perfectly for the powerhouse vocals.

We had over 120 vocal tracks in the end, and the Pyramix DAW was handling well without any glitches or any signs of latency albeit having a few plugins on each channels. This was a first for us to put the DAW to test and we were very happy with its performances.

StarMount Studio is grateful to be given such opportunity to host the recording of this project. Heartfelt thanks and congratulations to Bocai and team for bringing such heart warming campaign into Malaysia!
Lead by Candy as the executive producer, the young and talented team of Kido Lee (Producer) and Wee Ting (Vocal Coach) came up with some nice tunes, covering fast paced and slow ballad.

Vocal Chain: Tree Audio Branch and Fredenstein F200 for the fast and slow songs. Microphones were sE Gemini MK2 and Telefunken AK47, going into Lavry Blue AD. Tree Audio Branch was cranked up hot, and we worked the opto compressor for the rich harmonics and extra saturation on the song D.VA.

Fredenstein F200 was being used (courtesy of Ganz from Soundbuz) for the ballad. We were looking for a clean and big but not in the face vocals. It was great to have the F200 as it was not only has 2 channels, it has a compressor (transformer) and it can be used as parallel or just pure transformer sound from the compressor. I would say its such a thoughtful and effective way, especially for recording. We love the versatility and wished it could be de tented for a more accurate recall.
We blended Telefunken AK47 with AE2000 just to get the body and top end, mostly from the AK47.
Fredenstein can be clean and also colorful, compressors are forgiving and easy to operate as well.
A jazz trio project headed by Toro Cheng (piano), Ken Chung (bass) and Terence Ling (Drums).

Exciting time as it was a debut album and we were having the trio in the studio for the first time as well.

We had this on Pyramix 9, everything routed through Audient Zen 16 channels mic pre and into Horus interface. The tone was unified and the instruments were easily blending together while maintaining separation.

Dixon Artisan, with Audio Technica AE 2500 dual element microphone pairing was interesting as this was a rather huge kit for a jazz trio. The AE2500 has a very mid body tone, and we like the options to blend the condenser microphone with the dynamic according to different intensity of the song.

We enjoyed the songs, especially the originals from Toro very much and definitely looking forward to more to come from the trio.
